Creative Intern

Glue Society

  • 3 months
  • 1 July — 27 September 2019
  • Sydney, Australia

If you find yourself frustrated with the limitations of a typical job in the creative industries, perhaps a 3-month experience working with The Glue Society team will help unleash your true creative potential. Creativity Magazine called them the experts at doing things that have never been done before. And by and large that sums it up.

As an intern with Glue Society, it could be that you’ll be working out what a GAYTM looks like for an agency like TBWA, how to turn a WW1 photograph into a live event for DDB, or creating a cyber attack in the real world for AMV BBDO. It could be that you’ll be writing a treatment for a classical music video, directing a documentary about road safety, or helping to create an exhibition from dismantled petrol bowsers.

If you have a sense that you’d benefit from being part of the team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of creativity and trying to bring truly original ideas into the real world, then this placement could be for you.

FAQ

Why Rare Interns?

When it comes to landing roles in prestigious companies within the creative, media and tech industries, it’s not what you know – but often who. And unless you went to the right schools or grew up around people of influence, it can be incredibly hard to come across someone who’s able to give you your start.

The Rare network spans the most prestigious companies on earth – with the most sought-after positions. With those connections, we can help minorities get their foot in the door. Which ultimately helps to bridge a major social gap, usher in a new, diverse generation of talent – and enable the world’s top companies to benefit from fresh, unique perspectives on the work they do.

How long do the internships run for?

Duration varies from placement to placement – though that detail is set out in each of the listings on this page.

Do you offer accommodation for interns who aren’t based near a placement?

Yes. Our friends at AirBNB have offered a series of accommodation grants to support geo-diversity in cases just like this. If you’d like to be considered for an AirBNB grant, make a note of that in your application.

Who are the internships for?

Rare Internships are paid placements for Rare talent looking to start – or reignite – their careers in the creative, media and tech industries.

In order to qualify as a Rare Intern, you need to come from a diverse background, and have an interest in pursuing a career in the industries we work with.

Are Rare Interns paid?

Yes. Rare Interns are paid living wage of the city the placement is based in, for the duration of their internship. This is important, because it means people from all walks of life are able to take part – not just those from high socio backgrounds.

The salary varies from company to company, and from market to market. But, for a sense, this equates to a minimum of $10,000 AUD for a 3-month contract.

How can businesses get involved and offer a placement?

If you’d like to offer a placement to a Rare talent and post your opening here, just reach out to us via info@rare-syd.com and we’ll be in touch.
